UltiMAK M6-B Forward Optic Mount
for U.S. Carbine, Caliber .30, M1

Fits G.I. pattern M1 Carbines.
Cantilevered design.
Clamps securely to barrel in front of gas block.
Comes complete with screws, 4140 steel clamps, wrench and easy instructions.

Taking the versatility of the M1 Carbine to the next level, the new UltiMAK model M6 mount is the lowest, most stable and practical optic mount available. The forward positioning allows faster targeting with better field of view, provides more rail length, maintains full access to the receiver mechanism with optics in place, and will not interfere with case ejection. No need to remove your rear iron sight. Use of Q.D. type scope rings (Aimpoint 10818 shown) allows you to revert to full functionality of iron sights while your UltiMAK M6 mount remains in place.

The MIL STD 1913 (Weaver/Picatinny) rail sits lower than anything else available for this great rifle, providing a better, more natural spot weld for extremely fast target acquisition. No-gunsmithing installation (some stocks require minor inletting of wood inside the forend, while the old G.I. stocks we've tested require no modification). CNC machined from super strong 6061-T6 Mil Spec hard anodized aluminum. Will not fit, and cannot be modified to fit, any Carbines manufactured under the name "Universal" and some Carbines made by Plainfield. If you have a Universal or a non-mil spec Plainfield Carbine and you want to enjoy the benefits of the M6-B forward optic mount, it is advised that you trade it for a G.I. pattern carbine. Either a 1940's vintage or the more recent production IAI, or the new Auto Ordinance Carbines will perform better, and will be compatible with all after-market stocks and accessories.

Excerpt from this Guide:

A brief history of the M1 Carbine

The US Carbine, Caliber .30, M1 served as a lightweight semi-automatic carbine for the US Military from July 1942 ~ the 1960’s. The M2 (selective fire and fully automatic) and the M3 (active infrared scope system) are not covered in this Guide. In 1941, the Ordnance Department requested that US firearm companies and designers compete to develop a smaller and handier weapon for service troops such as truck drivers, medics, and paratroopers. The new .30 M1 cartridge was designed for an effective range of 300 yards using a round-nose 110 grain bullet. Most agree that the effective combat range is about 200 yards.

Although Winchester was awarded the initial contract in September 1941, the Inland Division of General Motors turned out to be the largest producer of M1 Carbines. A total of over 6 million M1 Carbines were produced by several contractors such as IBM, Underwood Typewriter Company, and the Rock-Ola Jukebox Company. The most rare are the Irwin-Peterson models with just over 4,000 produced.

At first glance, the M1 Carbine appears to be smaller version of the US M1 Garand rifle. The M1 Carbine has a different gas system, trigger mechanism design, and is fed by a detachable magazine....
